Recovery and Rehabilitation - Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary rehabilitation is an individually-supervised program for people experiencing lung problems. The program is designed to help patients decrease the symptoms of their disease or condition. Research has shown that regular participation in a pulmonary rehabilitation program decreases the number and length of hospital stays.

The Bayshore Medical Center program focuses on endurance and strength training, and is beneficial for people with conditions including:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Chronic asthma
  • Pulmonary fibrosis
  • Emphysema
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Lung cancer and lung cancer surgery

Our monitored, supervised rehabilitation program provides exercise and education about a variety of topics, including:

  • Medications
  • Drug efficacy
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Diet and nutrition
  • Symptom assessment
  • When to seek medical treatment
